Surf and Surgery

With surgery coming up this past monday some homies and I thought it would be fun to get a day in of surfing before i went under the knife.  We left Sunday morning at 5 a.m., drove from manchester vt, over to hampton beach NH.  When we got there we were not dissapointed to find perfect overhead waves with an off shore wind.  It was an incredible day of good waves, and some funny bails.  We all got really sund burnt, but i was worth every second out in the ocean.  We spent a solid 8 hrs surfing before headed to subway for dinner, and then the 3 hour drive back home to VT.

When we got home i had to jump in the shower, and get all my stuff ready for the hospital in the morning.  This was going to be my second surgery this year.  I had and accident in the US Open of snowboarding in March, I had slipped off a take off of a jump in the practice for the semi-final slopestyle.  After coming up just short of the landing my foot dislocated, and shattered the navicular bone.  I had a 4 and 1/2 surgery to put my foot back together, with a plate and screws.  After 10 weeks in a cast, 2 weeks and walking boot, and the remaining months in physical therapy, it was time to get the metal hardware taken out.  Surgery went well yesterday, quick and painless for me.  Ive just been resting up in bed watching movies.  I have to be in a soft cast for about 10-14 days while the wound heals, then i should be back on my feet, and working out, and doing physical therapy again.  Doctor is hoping after removing the hardware i will be able to gain full range, and strength in my foot again.
