Maili Masters Longboard Rally aimed at crusty old timers

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 August, 2008 : - - The Maili Masters Longboard Rally is for the crusty old surfer who wants to share a few waves, maybe a story or two over a lot of cold beer and to reminisce about some surfing history with a mate or two.
 
Surfing:
Competition will be conducted with a round robin format with all surfers getting between 2 and 3 surfs depending on conditions (hangovers, better waves along the beach, leave pass from the missus). Surfing will start 8am each morning allowing for you to wake up scratch yourself, consume a couple of Boroca with your coffee and get to the contest.
 
Socialising:
As befits a crusty old seadog socialising will be an important part of the Maili Masters with the Ocean Deck Bar & Restaurant at the Rainbow Bay SLSC serving up plenty of delicious cold beer and a nice red for those whose sexual persuasion can be questioned on both Friday & Saturday night. Friday will see an official opening by Richard Branson or at least someone as important as him and the draw will be made available.

All competitors will get a free feed on Saturday night at the Ocean Deck can party the night away to live music. (all freeloading partners will need to purchase a dinner ticket at the contest.) Competitors spot prizes will be given away during Saturday night including a magnificent holiday to Perisher Blue for 2 People valued at $2500*.
 
Demonstrations:
To raise awareness of the historical aspects of surfing in the 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s an exhibition of wooden surfboards used in this period will be on display thanks to Carl Tanner. Anyone who was surfing prior to the 40's will be given complimentary entry to the contest and be asked to give a display on a solid timber board which they must carry to the water themselves.
