Bike Rodeo Saturday

The Royal Rangers Outpost 242 will be hosting a community Bike Rodeo on October 11 at the Mountain Christian Center off Hwy 49 in Oakhurst.

The rodeo, in its eighth year, offer kids a chance to try out their cycling skills and learn about bicycle safety and maintenance while competing for trophies and medals and having a day of fun.

The competition has six different events consisting of a Slalom Race, Barrel race, Jumping, BMX Track Race, Wheelie Competition and a Freestyle Competition.

Competition brackets are based upon school grade level k-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12.

Registration begins at 5 a.m. and the fee is $10 which encompasses all events and a chance to win medals or trophies.

Helmets are required for all events and there will be a safety check on all bikes to ensure that they have brakes, hand grips and good tires before they can be used in any event.

"This is just a good place for the kids to come and ride and compete," said chief organizer Andy Clendenning. "Kids will come and share their bikes and helmets with their friends so they can all compete."

This year's rodeo is the senior project of Blake Ricker, Mike Young and Travis Meyers.

Royal Rangers Outpost 242 is led by Andy Clendenning and has 25 boys on the rolls. The Royal Rangers is a ministry that encompasses the United States and over 65 nations around the world. It motivates boys spiritually through Bible study and memorization, devotionals, and Christian role models.
